Countries that had established strong surveillance systems and a culture of transparency, such as South Korea, were able to respond swiftly. They implemented extensive testing, contact tracing, and isolation measures. In contrast, nations with weaker surveillance faced overwhelming case numbers, leading to increased morbidity and mortality.
Investments in digital health technologies, such as real-time data analytics, artificial intelligence, and genomic sequencing can enhance our ability to detect and monitor emerging pathogens. Furthermore, integrating One Health approaches, which recognize the interconnectedness of human, animal, and environmental health, can improve our understanding of zoonotic diseases and their transmission dynamics.

The COVID-19 pandemic revealed the fragility of many healthcare systems, emphasizing the need for resilience and preparedness. Countries with well-resourced healthcare systems fared better in managing surges in COVID-19 cases, while those with underfunded systems struggled.
Addressing health disparities must be a priority in pandemic preparedness. Equitable distribution of medical supplies, vaccines, and treatments which is essential to ensure that all populations can effectively respond to health threats.
The COVAX initiative, aimed at providing equitable access to COVID-19 vaccines, serves as a model for future global health efforts. Continued commitment to reducing health inequities and addressing social determinants of health will enhance overall resilience to pandemics.

Investing in healthcare infrastructure, including hospitals, clinics, pharmacies and medical supplies, is vital for effective pandemic response. This includes ensuring adequate staffing, training, information and resources to handle patient surges. Furthermore, promoting a culture of preparedness within healthcare institutions can facilitate rapid mobilization of resources during crises.
Training healthcare professionals in emergency response and disaster management is equally essential. The development of multidisciplinary teams that can collaborate effectively during a crisis will enhance the overall response capacity of health systems.

COVID-19 underscored the importance of global collaboration and information sharing in addressing public health threats and combating global health crises. Viruses do not respect national borders, and the pandemic highlighted the need for a coordinated international response, such as Data sharing, vaccine development, Public Health guidelines, cross border collaboration, combating etc. Rapid sharing of genomic sequences of SARS-CoV-2 enabled countries to develop tests and vaccines quickly. Moreover, COVAX aimed to ensure equitable access to vaccines across countries, particularly for low- and middle-income nations and organizations like the World Health Organization (WHO) provided essential guidelines and resources, promoting standardized responses to the pandemic. Besides, many more non-profit organizations worked together to dedicate their efforts for the betterment and improvement in health systems through information/data collecting during pandemic. At the same time, countries collaborated on surveillance and response strategies, sharing best practices and resources to enhance overall preparedness. These collaborative efforts were crucial in managing the pandemic's spread and mitigating its impact, highlighting the importance of a unified global response to future health emergencies.

The World Health Organization (WHO) plays a crucial role in global health governance, yet its authority and resources need strengthening. Countries must prioritize adherence to International Health Regulations (IHR) to ensure timely sharing of information about outbreaks and coordinated responses.
The development of global platforms for sharing data on infectious diseases can enhance situational awareness and facilitate rapid responses. Initiatives such as the Coalition for Epidemic Preparedness Innovations (CEPI) and GAVI, the Vaccine Alliance, demonstrate the potential of international collaboration in vaccine research and distribution.
